Ongoing research on Cantonese linguistic properties: mainly morphosyntactic patterns & structure, semantics and sociolinguistic background.
The ultimate goal of this project is to gain a comprehensive picture and documentation of the Cantonese language (mainly the variety spoken in Hong Kong, but also in Singapore, overseas diaspora, and Southern China) and enhance attention to Cantonese in academia.
The aim is also to compare the findings in Cantonese with other languages for a complete view of crosslinguistic variations, but also to enhance our understanding of Universal Grammar and universal syntactic structure.
